Carbon Dividend Program
The Carbon Dividend Program transforms your energy efficiency upgrades into quarterly cash payments. When you reduce your energy use, you're not just lowering your utility bills—you're also creating grid capacity and reducing carbon emissions in a way that has real market value. We help you capture that value.
When you enroll, you receive an instant $100 credit on your energy efficiency upgrade. Simply connect your utility account (PG&E, SCE, or SDG&E) through a secure link, and you're in.
Once your energy-efficient equipment is installed, we continuously monitor your meter data to measure exactly how much energy and carbon you're saving—no extra work required from you.
Every quarter for the next year, you receive your share of the revenue pool. Your payment is based on the verified carbon savings your project generates.
The Carbon Dividend Program pools revenue from two sources:
California's Market Access Programs pay for verified energy savings based on grid benefits.
Private companies want to purchase local Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) instead of unbundled RECs from far away wind farms.
These funds are combined quarterly and distributed to participating customers and contractors based on verified carbon savings.
Scenario: You upgrade to LED lighting and a heat pump water heater.
| Your verified carbon savings | 12 tons CO₂e |
|---|---|
| Your total payments | $600.00 |

You're being compensated for the environmental value of your carbon reductions. It's not "free"—you earned it by making energy-efficient choices.
The Carbon Dividend Program operates within California's official Market Access Programs framework and follows all CPUC regulations. All carbon savings are independently verified and registered.
